  1. What inspires you to serve as a member of the Manhattan Parks & Recreation Foundation Board?
I am deeply inspired to serve as a member of the Manhattan Parks & Recreation Foundation Board because of the profound impact the parks and recreation programs have had on my life and my family’s life. Volunteering at the Sunset Zoo and continuing that tradition with my son today brings me immense joy. I want to ensure that everyone in our community can experience the same enrichment and joy that the Parks and Recreation Department has provided me. By serving on the board, I aim to contribute to creating and maintaining vibrant, accessible spaces that foster community well-being and connection.
  2. Which Parks & Recreation program or activity do you enjoy the most?
One of my favorite activities is visiting the facilities at Frank Anneberg Park, a place that holds special memories for me and my family. Additionally, I look forward to enrolling my soon-to-be 3-year-old in his first swim lessons through the Parks and Rec program this summer. These experiences and the anticipation of new ones continue to bring us closer as a family and instill a love for our community’s recreational opportunities.
  3. What’s your go-to activity to promote a healthy and balanced lifestyle for both you and your family?
My go-to activity to promote a healthy and balanced lifestyle is spending time outdoors in the numerous parks Manhattan has to offer. Throughout my pregnancy, I walked through the many parks, appreciating the natural beauty and tranquility they provide. My family and I also enjoy frequent visits to the Discovery Center, which not only enriches our minds with their series of showcase educational exhibits but also offers a fun and engaging way to learn together as a family. These activities keep us active, connected, and continually learning.
  4. Can you share a memorable experience you or your family have had being involved in Manhattan Parks & Recreation activities?
A particularly memorable experience for me was getting married at Frank Anneberg Park, a place where I had spent countless hours enjoying the trail and soccer fields. This park holds a special place in my hearts as it symbolizes the joy and togetherness my family finds in Manhattan’s recreational spaces. Additionally, I fondly remember my youth spent in various Parks and Rec programs, and I am eager to see my son start his journey with his first swim lessons this summer. These experiences highlight the importance and joy of being involved in Manhattan Parks & Recreation activities, creating lasting memories and fostering a strong sense of community.
