Manhattan is a wonderful community and a great place to raise a family. To ensure that everyone continues to have access to affordable, top-notch programs and facilities, the Manhattan Parks and Recreation Foundation (MPRF), a component fund of the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation, was founded by citizens and businesses in 2023.

The MPRF oversees three funds with the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation. All MPRF funds exist to support the City of Manhattan Parks and Recreation Department.

The Endowed Fund provides permanent support for the MPRF grants program. Contributions are invested with the goal of long-term growth of principal and income. 

The Grants Fund provides grants for the City of Manhattan Parks and Recreation Division to:

• Ensure success of recreation programs;
• Reduce economic barriers for program participants;
• Support major recreation projects; and
• Address other general recreation needs.

The Operating Fund provides support for program and fundraising expenses, including but not limited to crucial functions such as communications, postage, signage and venue rentals.
